Southern California Croats have always shown appreciation for Croatian star athletes when they would arrive to compete in the region. Saturday, July 17th, 2010 was no exception.  3 Croatian National Soccerteam players on the Tottenham Hotspur side, Vedran Corluka, Luka Modric, and Niko Kranjcar took on theMLS team San Jose Earthquakes at the Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. Tottenham is a soccer club competingin the English Premier League.San Jose was a stop in their pre-season North America tour.

I had a privilege of attaining media credentials to catch the moments in the game, in the stands, as well as the post game atmosphere via images and videos. Many Croatian fans were present at the stadium, where the capacity was full. I was proud to see many "checkers" in the stands. Some Croats came from as far as Phoenix, AZ, to support their fellow Croatians.I had a chance to talk to some of them and mingle. Once again, they've shown how Croatian fans cheer!

Tottenham trio certainly was thankful for the support of the Croatian community. While Vedran Corluka did not play up due to a minor right ankle injury, he was kind shake hands with the Croatian supporters and sign their memorabilia. Niko Kranjcar gave a mini interview to the fellows from the CroatianSoccerReport.com.

I have to admit I was most impressed with the class and professionalism of the English club, from their administration personnel, their players, to the wonderful coach Harry Redknapp. He clearly stated he enjoys coaching Croats and appreciates the support of the Croatian fans.

Croatian Cultural Center of Greater Los Angeles is proud to present the new partner OKA Ltd.

OKA is a company that operates from Zagreb, Croatia and its mission is to help Croatian emigrants in dealing with their real estate issues in Croatia.

Please read on for more detailed information

OKA d.o.o. AND THE SERVICES IT PROVIDES

OKA limited company is a Croatian firm that was founded in Zagreb in 2005.

1. Real estate and documents

When the firm was set up, its activities were related to matters relating to real estate. However, we very soon found out that there was a large and unoccupied area that was of interest to Croatian expatriates in particular, but also to people domiciled in the country. Carrying out matters for our clients, particularly in the south of Croatia, we came into numerous situations where the places in which uncles and aunts and many other relatives lived were not known, people who had emigrated from the country many years earlier, but were still entered in the land registers as owners of real estate in Croatia. Nobody knew where they lived, whether they were alive, whether they had children, who their heirs were... This ignorance of the actual facts stood in the way of disposing of their real estate in Croatia, and led to numerous unnecessary complications and costs.

Director for Cultural Affairs

May 16th, 2010. was the day when Croatian Cultural Center of Greater Los Angeles opened its doors to a wide audience for its “1st Annual Spring Concert of the Croatian Cultural Center of Greater Los Angeles”. In an attempt to bring Croatian cultural tradition to the area, the CCCGLA brought to San Pedro Mr. Tom Yeseta and his orchestra from downtown LA, and hosted many guests to present Croatian music and folklore to the public. The orchestra carried a 1.5 hr program effortlessly streaming through the strings of the old instruments. Croatian Cultural Center Children’s Choir lead by Mr. Nada Matulic and Dr. Suzana Tkalcic opened the program in cute folk costumes from Prigorje singing “Boze cuvaj Hrvatsku” and “Hrvatska mati me rodila”, brining tears to the eyes of the moved audience. Young soloists Emily Baltorinic and Ana Kunza showed their potential with their clear voices, as they sung some more popular folk songs. Croatian Cultural Center Singers presented Dalmatia and other regions of Croatia through their songs and costumes. A diverse program also included Mr. Chris Thomas on accordion and his band that brought showed us some polka.

We had such a great opportunity to share our Trophy celebration with Mr. Frank Politeo who is one of the greatest Croatian when it comes to supporting Croatian culture and events like Tennis tournaments, he unselfishly financed most of them. We had a great time  chating with him and listening to how everything started with Croatian Tennis here in the Los Angeles Area. Thank you Frank!
