Nova

Art & Music Show

Pigments of the Imagination

On July 2nd, 2009, a new type of art/music show is launching in San Pedro, Ca in union with the 1st Thursday Art Walk of San Pedro. The Croatian Cultural Center of Greater Los Angeles is proud to present Nova an Art & Music experience curated by Lisa Rosso “Nyla”. Nova will inspire the viewer to question, evolve and appreciate the beauty in art, music and dance by creating a one of a kind cultural experience. The passion behind Nova is to awaken a new generation of artists and to feature their expression through art.

Nova will showcase the art of emerging artists: Chris Blandino, John Hicks, Stan Resnicoff, Eric Bangle, Taylor Bos, Erol Carlson “Ero” and Lisa Rosso “Nyla”. The art will be displayed to the sounds of Bossacucanova music-  a modern version of Brazilian bossanova. Brazilian “Capoeira” dancers will also intrigue the viewers with an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines the elements of martial arts, music, games and dance.

A drum circle will be part of the event brought by “Free to be me Drum Circle”. Stan Resnicoff will present a demonstration of “Common Drawing”, a combination of exercise and art that uses your body as a drawing tool. Using a combination of full extension movements (jumping, squatting, bending etc.) at different rates and starting points, an entire ‘library of graphic expressions can be created, and endless combinations explored’.
