San Pedro Community and Tamburitza Extravaganza 2010
Warner Theater and the Croatian Community of San Pedro hosted, once again,
a spectacular event that gathered many Croatian-Americans from North
America around an effort to present our cultural heritage to the community.
Just as the first rain drops fell on the thirsty streets of LA Harbor, many
Croatians from So Cal and their guests from Canada and New York started
pouring into the Old Theatre in their vivid national folk costumes
representing different regions of the "Old Country". The people of San
Pedro that were in the streets at this time stopped for a minute to admire
the colorful youth about to showcase their singing, playing, and dancing
skills of their Croatian folk heritage.

The two-hour long program brought
many to tears as it evoked memories from past generations and pride for the
present ones whose hard work and dedication keep our culture alive.
Among the performing groups, the Croatian Cultural Center of Greater Los
Angeles was for the first time represented by a group of local musical
enthusiasts led by Mr. Pablo Sepulveda Rosso: Croatian Cultural Center
Singers. In the tradition of old Croatian folk singing they performed a
medley of two songs from the coastal region of Middle Dalmacia and two
songs from Slavonia. Mr. Rosso skillfully accompanied a few songs with his
tamburitza (prim). Mr. Rosso, Sandra Matulic, Nada Matulich, Marijana
Vidas, and  Suzana Tkalcic joined their voices to present what San Pedro
Croatians have to offer to this multicultural stage of our city.  Their
performance highlighted the efforts of the local community in revitalizing
the Cultural Center of San Pedro for the preservation and presentation of
our cultural heritage in this area.
