Domovino moja lijepa
Gl. I tekst: Drago Diklic Domovino moja lijepa
tebi pjevam pjesmu tu.
S tobom kuca srce moje
i u dobru i u zlu.
Nek dušmani naši znaju
da im ovdje nije dom.
Svak nek' živi u svom kraju
nek' je sretan svoj na svom.
Ove rijeke, ovo more,
ova zemlja naš je dom.
Tu smo sretni, tu smo rasli
u tom kraju hrvatskom.
Domovino moja lijepa
tebi pjevam pjesmu tu.
Znaj, da nikom na tom svijetu
ne dam zemlju hrvatsku.

On Feb. 26 and 28th, 2010. San Pedro community and CCGLA hosted another exhibit of an accomplished photo artists, Marko Vrdoljak from Croatia. The old bank building, as many San Pedroans remember today's CCGLA, was brightened again by the vivid colors of scenes from the nature and places from Croatia transferred on canvas. The event was organized by Mr. Denis Svircic and Croatian youth of San Pedro in an attempt to reach out to the local community. The author is well known to the Ministry of Tourism of Croatia and many local publishers in Croatia as he provides a good eye for details, colors and scene arrangements to capture well the eye of a wide audience and promote tourism of this newly discovered European destination. The author was fully engaged in the exhibit as he presented and explained his work and the themes to the audience. Mr. Vrdoljak has sold several beautiful pieces at the end of the exhibit, and has donated a nice image of churches in the mist to the CCCGLA. Thank you Marko for your gift and all of you for coming and supporting this event.

Pablo’s folk treasure chest/Pablova folklorna skrinjica A great Chilen-Croatian folk art enthusiasts, Mr. Pablo Sepulveda Rosso left our community on Feb 19. 2010. to bring his talents back to the Croatian community of Chile. He left behind a legacy of a young Croatian folklorist with multiple assets: folk dancing, costume tyloring, singing, playing tamburitza (without a formal training). Pablo has spent a year in Croatia working with various locally famous folk artists and groups to learn the skills and secrets of very rich and diverse Croatian Cultural Heritage. Croatian Cultural Center of Greater Los Angeles and The Friends of the Croatian Cultural Center Inc. are greatly indebted to Pablo for his leadership as a Director for Culture and as a craftsmen for many folk costumes he created, and for the dances he thought Croatian Children in San Pedro and at St. Anthony’s. Pablo’s last work was group of 8 singers, him included, that regularly continue to meet at the CCCGLA: Croatian Cultural Center Singers. We hope that memory on Pablo will continue to live in the hearts of his friends and children that he thought for a while. Thank you Pablo for being part of our Center, and leaving so much of you to the Community of San Pedro and Los Angeles. And our dear Pablo…”Happy trails to you, until we meet again…” as we hope to see or meet with you again on some event..somewhere in the world…Adios. Dr. Suzana Tkalcic Director for Cultural Affairs The Friends of the Croatian Cultural Center, Inc. |
